You are cordially invited to an exclusive Friends-only event to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos! Noted artist and choreographer, Jose Tena will discuss the customs and traditions of the Dia de Los Muertos celebration. Each year Mr. Tena creates a Dia de Los Muertos altar on a grand scale at the Branigan Cultural Center.

Come get a sneak peek before the exhibit is opened to the public. In addition, Mr. Tena is the founder and artistic director of Ballet Folklorico de la Tierra Del Encanto. His Ballet Folklorico troop will entertain us with a performance. Pan dulce and refreshments will be served.

MoNaS Design Firm Wins Prestigious Award

The City of Las Cruces’ Museum of Nature & Science (MoNaS,) currently located at the Mesilla Valley Mall, is scheduled to open at its new location in the Downtown Mall Nov. 2^nd, 2012. And the firm designing exhibits for the new MoNaS has won the American Association of Museums’ 2011 “Excellence in Exhibitions” award.

Reich+Petch Design International received the award for their work on the Age of Mammals Gallery for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. The L.A. museum recently loaned Paleozoic Trackways specimens for use in the new MoNaS.

Reich+Petch Design International completed the MoNaS Master Plan and has been working with Las Cruces museum staff on the MoNaS project since 2009.

“We are pleased to bring the talents of this internationally renowned museum design firm to our new museum project. We are confident that Las Cruces will create a world-class science museum with the assistance of Reich+Petch,” says director of museums, Will Ticknor.

The City of Las Cruces Museum System congratulates Reich+Petch Design International on their receipt of this prestigious national award.
