Michael Shinebery, Educational Specialist at the Museum of Space History , Alamogordo is leading the discussion on 50 years of NASA spinoffs. Presented in partnership with Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, New Mexico State University chapter.
Music from the Heart of Space
Friday, December 2 / 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Featured musician Dan Lambert plays exotic sounds and rhythms, including percussive South American guitar and esoteric Indian, Middle Eastern, and Chinese stringed instruments.
Painting the Night Sky
Thurs - Sat, December 1 - 3 / 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
A three-day workshop on painting night time scenes, led by Lyuba and Aleksander Titovets. Limited to 20 participants. $50 participation fee. Call 541-2217 to register or for more information.
Friday, December 2 / 2:00 – 3:00 pm
Registered workshop participants will learn about HDR digital photography and how to shoot successfully in low light. Led by Paul Schranz, Director of the Preston Center for Contemporary Art. The workshop is free. Pre-registration is required. Call 541-2217 to register or for more information.
Sky Safari Photography Workshop
Saturday, December 3 / 7:30 – 9:30 pm
Participants from the Friday workshop will test their newly acquired skills by attempting to photograph the night sky with the assistance of the NMSU Astronomy Department. This part of the workshop is not limited to registered participants. There is a $5.00 per car fee payable to the New Mexico State Parks.
Starry Night
Tuesday, December 6 / 6:30 - 8:30 pm
A night for singles to mingle, featuring a tour or the NASA|ART exhibition, music, refreshments, and outdoor Nerf Rocket launches (rockets provided). The event is free, adults of all ages welcome.

Space Age Art Workshop with Bob Diven
Saturday, December 17 / 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
11:00 am - Workshop PART 1: Bob Diven leads a tour of the NASA|ART exhibition.
1:30 - 4:00 pm - Workshop PART 2: Group meets at White Sands Missile Range Museum for a discussion and demonstration by Bob Diven, followed by an afternoon of field sketching. The workshop is free, advance registration is required. Call 541-2217 to register. A part of the Speaking of Art Lecture Series.
